Residency Assistance:
Maquoketa
Art Experience encourages skilled artists to relocate to Maquoketa and
assists qualified artists with finding appropriate studios and living
spaces. Downtown Maquoketa storefronts and
raw
second story spaces are quite affordable as studios. Residential
rentals are also reasonably priced. Maquoketa Art Experience can
help artists find listed and unlisted spaces suitable to their needs.
Residency
assistance from Maquoketa Art Experience is offered to artists who have
been selected by our jury, and all selected artists who relocate to
Maquoekta are designated as MAE Resident Artists. Benefits
include listings on the MAE website, free access to many events and
classes at MAE, and inclusion in MAE exhibitions. Preference is
given
to accomplished visual and intermedia artists who will be
committed to ongoing creation of new pieces during their
residency.
Artists willing to have regularly scheduled open studios are
also preferred.
Resident artists are also invited to offer workshops in the MAE
workshop space at 124 S. Main St. or in their own studios.
For
all
workshops organized and
sponsored by MAE, 25% of workshop fees (aside from material or model
fees) goes to Maquoketa Art Experience.
